Final Eagles 7 Round Mock Draft

Final Eagles 7 Round Mock Draft

The day has arrived. There isn't much else to say. The only thing we can do is hope. Hope for a brighter future, hope that this teams trend of getting it wrong is finally put to an end, hope that whoever we draft ensures that we never have another season like last year again.

So with baited breath.

With the 12th pick in the NFL Draft, The Philadelphia Eagles select.......

Round 1 (12)

Patrick Surtain

CB Alabama

Surtain should absolutely be the guy the Eagles pick if he is available at pick 12. I’d say the Eagles should even consider moving up ahead of the Broncos and Cowboys to ensure we get him. He checks every box on the corner wishlist. He is an effective and willing tackler, he has the size, athleticism and instincts that any defensive coordinator would love. He’s one of the smartest players in the draft and comes with a fantastic pedigree; with a former pro bowl father and playing at the premier NCAA powerhouse. He always seems to be in position to make a play on the ball, and though he isn’t a traditional burner, he can stay on the hip of nearly any WR he would face. He has the size and strength to cover the hybrid WR/TE like George Kittle and Travis Kelce. He may not have the upside of Horn but is much safer and still comes with the potential of becoming a lock down corner. If he hits his ceiling you can expect him to make a few All Pro teams in his career. The Eagles will either need to be aggressive or hope a few things break their way to be able to get him, but if he is on the board this should be a no brainer.

Other possible picks:

Jaylen Waddle

WR Alabama

Rashawn Slater

OL Northwestern

Jaycee Horn

CB South Carolina

Round 2 (37)

Terrace Marshall

WR LSU

Marshall is another player who could go as high as the 20s if a team falls in love with him, watching his tape you can see why. He’s 6’4, with a power forward type wingspan and can jump with the best of them. He has surprising speed and agility for a WR of his stature and utilizes it on deep balls consistently. His burst off the line is amongst the best in his class and runs every route effectively. He has solid hands and drops are a rare occurrence for him. Heading into this season, many pundits expected a major drop off in production after losing Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson to the NFL and running mate Ja’marr Chase opted out; but Marshall kept on producing. In only 7 games he averaged over 100 yards per contest and snagged 10 TDs. The only thing holding him back from being a lock in the first round is the depth at WR this year, and an undisclosed medical issue that was brought to light recently. If he were to fall to pick 37 I believe he is worth a small risk, for the potential of having a true #1 receiver this team so desperately needs.

Other possible picks:

Kadarius Toney WR Florida

Asante Samuel Jr. CB Florida St

Carlos Basham DE Wake Forest

Round 3(70)

Ronnie Perkins DE Oklahoma

Perkins is a squat and powerful pass rusher. He has been consistently productive at OU putting up 17 sacks and 32 tackles for a loss in his three years, despite missing significant time due to suspensions. Those suspensions are a big reason Perkins has fallen out of many scouts top 50. He knows how to control his man at the point of attack and won’t get blown off the ball against the run. He is deceptively quick for a big fella and uses his powerful hands to stay in control of the trench battles. He tends to depend a little too much on his natural ability and hasn’t developed a go-to pass rushing move, that could get him in a bit of trouble at the next level where the offensive tackles can’t be outmuscled or out-hustled . Even though he’s strong against the run, he can be over aggressive and lose contain. Losing contain against Christian McCaffery or Alvin Kamara could mean 7 points only any given play so he will need to have that coached out of him. He may need time to develop into an every down starter but can contribute on 3rd down right now. Luckily the Eagles have three solid starters at DE so he has time to learn the pro game under Brandon Graham.

Other possible picks:

Paulson Adebo CB Stanford

Tyson Campbell CB Georgia

Trey Smith OG

Tennessee

Pat Freiermuth TE

Penn State

Round 3(84)

Richie Grant

Safety UCF

If you’re looking for someone to bring fire to the back end of the defense, look no further than Richie Grant. His motor is unmatched, always playing with his hair seemingly on fire. A three year starter for UCF, he is known as an excellent leader and a highly intelligent player. He battled for everything he had, going from a barely recruited prospect, to a high level performer and helping the Golden Knights transform from a lowly 0-12 team into a mid major powerhouse. Grant is ultra diverse and during his time in college has lined up as a dime and nickel back, as a single high safety, and has played down in the box. He’s the type of kid who is willing to do anything to win and coaches love that fire. He has a nose for the ball and always seems to be apart of the tackle. He might not be the fastest or biggest guy in the field but he makes up for it with exceptional closing speed and unmatched play recognition. He could stand to gain weight if he is going to play safety in the NFL, only being 195 lbs but there aren’t many other flaws in his game. He has a lot of Malcolm Jenkins in him, which should be enough to get Eagles fans attention.

Other possible picks:

Joseph Ossai Edge Texas

Kenny Gainwell RB Memphis

Brady Christiansen OT BYU

Pete Werner LB Ohio State

Round 4 (123)

Rhamondre Stevenson

RB Oklahoma

The Eagles seem to have their feature back in Miles Sanders, but in a league where every yard counts, it’s never a bad idea to have a battering ram to tote the rock. In comes Stevenson. This guy is a straight up bully and will pound you into submission. Watching him run through contact is like watching a hot knife cut through butter. He fights for every yard and consistently requires multiple defenders to bring him down. You’d expect a guy so big to be lumbering but he has great feet for such a big guy. If a hole closes up he has the agility to find a running lane as well as he can create one with his aggressive running style. He also is far from a liability in the pass game. He may very well be the best pass blocker in the class and has soft hands. I doubt the team who selects him will be asking him to run wheel routes, but he can certainly get you a few yards as a check down. He is very reminiscent of fan favorite and Super Bowl hero LeGarrette Blount in short yardage situations. I don’t know if there’s a back in the class I’d rather have on 4th&2. He certainly won’t be hitting home runs or breaking off 50 yard runs, but if you’re looking for a guy you can feed 8-10 times a game in short yardage and goal line situations, he’s a great bet. He would be a perfect compliment to the small and shifty Boston Scott and the home run hitting Sanders.

Other possible picks:

Shaka Toney Edge Penn State

Trey Sermon RB Ohio State

Quinn Meinerz OG Wis-Whitewater

Seth Williams WR Auburn

Round 5 (150)

Israel Mukuamu

CB South Carolina

The long CB from South Carolina was Jaycee Horn’s running mate and performed well despite being targeted quite a bit. He’s got a great frame at 6’4 205 but could stand to add a little weight or risk getting hand checked out of plays by big receivers.

He has insane measurables for a corner his size, blending speed and agility with soft hands and physicality. He has the numbers to show his ball hawking skills grabbing 7 INTs between 2019 and 2020 even though he only played 5 games last year. He can get turned around at times and has trouble locating the ball when trailing a receiver. Part of that issue comes from a lack of fluidity in his hips, and another part of it comes from his lack of refinement. When you’re always the one of the best athletes on the field, you can rely on your physical gifts; that won’t work out well in the big league. He is best suited to play in a zone heavy scheme that allows him to keep everything in front of him and use those ball hawking skills. He is definitely a project but could lead to huge dividends if he can refine his game.

Other possible picks:

Shi Smith

WR South Carolina

Stone Forsythe OT Florida

Tommy Togiai DT Ohio State

Jaelen Darden

WR North Texas

Round 6(224)

Kenny Yeboah

TE Ole Miss

Round 6(225)

Sam Ehlinger

Round 7(234)

Josh Ball

OT Marshall

Round 7(240)

Jared Hocker
