Get That Mets Off Your Shoulder

The Phillies recently won a series against the Mets for the first time since September 17-19, 2021. Trea Turner had an amazing performance, hitting a solo homer in the first, a single that drove in a run in the third, and stealing two bases in the fifth. The Phillies were poised to waste this performance, but the Mets handed them a win with a brutal eighth inning that included a hit, three walks, two hit-by-pitches, and an error. Craig Kimbrel closed things out, and the Phillies finished the homestand with a series victory.

They are currently 41-37 and in second place in the National League East. After dropping 3 of 4 games to two division rivals, closing out the series vs the Mets only helps matters. Now they are back on the road in Chicago, where they are 1-0 in the Cubs series. The Phillies have had a strong June to bolster their overall season performance let's hope they finish strong, and we can look forward to some more meaningful games in July and beyond.

A Franchise Defining Week

The Philadelphia 76ers had a relatively quiet night during the 2023 NBA draft, but the same won't be true when free agency begins at 6 p.m. ET on June 30. If James Harden declines his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season as expected, he'll become an unrestricted free agent. The Sixers will also have to decide whether to extend Tyrese Maxey and De'Anthony Melton, and whether to trade Tobias Harris. With the new collective bargaining agreement in place, the Sixers have a variety of options to consider as they head into a franchise-defining week.

Tobias Harris recently said that "casual Sixers fans" would trade him for a Crumbl Cookie, which is a bit of an understatement considering the legitimate Sixers fans would trade him for a coke and a smile. Fans have been discussing the trade speculation, with some saying they don't think they could get even a crumble from a Crumbl Cookie for Tobias, and others pointing out that he's not built like the guys on the rosters of teams like the Nuggets, Heat, and Celtics. It looks like the Sixers will have to weigh whether to trade Tobias Harris, and if not, they could always sign him to a far-more-reasonable extension next summer.

The Process on Ice

The Philadelphia Flyers have two first-round picks in the 2023 NHL Draft tonight, seventh and 22nd overall. General manager Daniel Briere has been active in the trade market, and it looks like he is trying to add more picks in the first round. The Flyers are looking to restock their forward prospects, and they have their eyes on top prospects Ryan Leonard and Matvei Michkov. It looks like the Flyers are trying to build for the future, and the 2023 NHL Draft is a great opportunity for them to add some young talent to their roster.

The Flyers have traded away Ivan Provorov, Tony DeAngelo, Kevin Hayes, Travis Sanheim, and it is speculated that Travis Konecny, Carter Hart, and Scott Laughton could be on their way out as well. The Flyers are trading these players in order to acquire more draft picks and restock their forward prospects. General manager Daniel Briere is being savvy and making sure that the Philadelphia Flyers are set up for success for years to come.

Is it time for football yet?

Colin Cowherd thinks the Eagles will have a drop off this year, and was quoted saying “There is a lot of blinking lights.”, but the fans don't agree. They think the Eagles are returning 16/22 starters, have a great O-Line/D-Line, an awesome WR combo, and a veteran secondary, so they should win at least 11 games. Colin's argument is based on the same QBs who got hurt the year after they went to the Super Bowl, but the fans think he's reaching and that age doesn't matter when the players are still the best at their position. The fans also think Colin's take is a "blinking light" and that he's contradicting himself by saying half the playoff teams aren't as good and then saying the Eagles face 10 playoff teams from last year. They think the Eagles will have a drop off only if Hurts regresses or major injuries occur, but otherwise they should be successful.

Jason Kelce, of Eagles fame, recently had a "chug-off" with 94.1 WIP radio personality, James Seltzer. It was a race to see who could chug a 30 ounce beer to the finish first. Kelce absolutely demolished Seltzer, chugging the entire beer before James was half done. It was an impressive feat, and it's no wonder why people are calling for a Jason Kelce statue to be erected immediately! Who's next up to challenge the Chug Champion? Will his brother Travis Kelce step up? My money would be on big bro Jason!
