Since Last Week's Headlines
Let's take a moment to go over some of the headlines that happened in Philadelphia Sports since last week's Quarterback Factory Show.
It's Thursday, January 28th, 2021, and that means the latest episode of QBFS is coming to you live tonight at 9pm EST. Let's take a moment to go over some of the headlines that happened since last week's show aired live on Instagram. Look at those beautiful faces. Anyway, lets get to some of the past week's headlines that you can expect us to discuss on tonight's show. If you haven't already, follow us on Instagram so you can be notified when we go live. If you can't make it live, don't worry, the show will be exported to both Spotify and YouTube afterwards.
Let's start with the biggest headline in Philly sports for the week. On the tail end of the Eagles new head coaching hire, reports have confirmed on January 26th that your Philadelphia Phillies have finally agreed to terms with the one and only J.T. Realmuto! What a relief it is to know he will be back behind the plate for the upcoming season. It's nice to have a week where the Eagles aren't dominating the headlines in this city, and it doesn't happen all that often so we will take advantage of these moments when we get them.
Speaking of the Eagles, after hiring head coach Nick Sirianni, they have been busy getting Sirianni's staff in order. After 11 years serving under the Eagles organization's coaching staff in various roles through three head coaching regimes, Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs Coach Duce Staley wanted out and was granted that wish as he joined the Detroit Lions. We here at QBFS would like to wish Coach Duce well, and while it was a lateral move with the same title to the Lions, we look forward to seeing him advance his career in the NFL. Joining Duce on the Detroit Eagles, I mean Lions, will be Special Teams Coordinator Dave Fipp, who has also seen his fair share of head coach turnover here in Philadelphia the past 7 years. We would also like to say a big "I'll fuckin' see ya'" to Pass Game Coordinator and Quarterback [Factory] Coach, Press Taylor, as his services will no longer be retained by the Philadelphia Eagles organization. Meanwhile offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland is here to stay, which is good news to any Eagles fan's ears. Hopefully he can bring a bit of cohesiveness back to the line in 2021. 🤞
Incoming new coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball including most recently reported new quarterbacks coach, former offensive coordinator of the Florida Gators, Brian Johnson, who will serve as either the Carson Wentz rehabilitator or the Jalen Hurts developer under new Offensive Coordinator Shane Steichen from the Los Angeles Chargers, and Pass Game Coordinator Kevin Patullo from the Indianapolis Colts. Eagles twitter is relatively mixed between each new staff member. You can read a deep dive on these guys and more from our very own scout, analyst, beautiful mind, philanthropist, and wordsmith of this generation Shawn Palumbo.
And on the defensive side of the ball we're bringing in defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon who also hails from the Colts, and a new Defensive Line coach from the Auburn University Tigers, Tracy Rocker. Expect us to dive into these moves during tonight's episode.
And speaking of staying or going, what kind of week would it be without some kind of report circulating about Wentz's Type-A personality, and his continued silence on his "feelings" about his current situation and if he will be starting, fighting to start, not starting at all, or not even on the team next year. The situation does not seem to be cleaning itself up. ESPN posted about it, and you better believe we will be discussing tonight, so tune in, and we will read your comments live on air.
After an Embiid-less Sixers loss to the Detroit Pistons on Monday, and a somewhat sloppy nail-biter win last night over LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, your Philadelphia 76ers remain atop the East in first place. Dare we say that we are hopeful for post season success with this team? Or are we worried of similarities to the 2020 Sixers. Here is a few quotes from our group chat last night during key moments in the game.

After the Flyers started out the season with a sweep of the Pittsburg Penguins, it has since been relatively less exciting as they have almost evened out their wins (4) and losses (3, including one in overtime). They look to sweep the Devils tonight to get back on track and keep afoot in the race for the east. It is still early and we hope to watch some good hockey tonight, and hopefully report on a win during our broadcast.
